Cancer screening

According to Germany’s Krebsfrüherkennungsrichtlinie für Versicherte der gesetzlichen Krankenkassen (Cancer Early Detection Directive for persons insured by the Statutory Health Insurance) once a year for patients from 20 years of age and above

•  inspection of the genitalia

•  annual cytological smear of the cervix, 

   with HPV test every 3 years from 35 years of age onwards

•  palpation of the internal genitalia

•  breast palpation from 30 years of age onwards

•  examination for blood in faeces from 50 years of age onwards (immunological stool test, iFOBT)


Extended cancer screening

appropriate additional screenings on request, which are not covered by the statutory health insurance
•  thin layer cytology
•  HPV test before 35 years of age
•  ultrasound examination of small pelvis with internal genitalia and urinary bladder
